Enrollment

Tech High School is open to all students entering grades 9 -12 based on available space in each grade with the only criterion being that students reside in the Atlanta Public School System district. Tech High does not discriminate against students on the basis of disability, race, creed, color, gender, national origin, religion, ancestry, marital status, the need for special educational services or any other characteristic protected by local, state or federal law. No tests of any sort will be given to determine whether or not enrollment will be granted; however, after students are enrolled, tests will be administered to help determine appropriate group placement.

To enroll in Tech High, parent or guardian must bring the following REQUIRED documents and complete the following steps:

Step 1 – Complete the online registration enrollment form

Step 2 – Provide the following enrollment documents to the school

1. Transcript and discipline records from previous school;

2. Standardized test scores (CRCT, GHSGT);

3. Immunization records;

4. Birth certificate;

5. Proof of residency: mortgage or lease contract, a recent utility bill. (Phone bills may not be used).

6. If more students apply than we have space for, a lottery will be held.

7. If applicable, parents / guardians must submit their student’s most recent IEP or 504 plan.

Step 3 – Complete an orientation or meet with the principal or assistant principal of the school

Step 4 - Meet with the counselors to set up the appropriate academic schedule. Academic assessments will also take place during this step.

Uniform Policies 2010-2011

Male Uniforms

Tops:

Navy or White polo or oxford (shirt with a collar, a full-length opening at the front from the collar to the hem, and full length sleeves with cuffs). Shirt should be buttoned and tucked. (all shirts must be embroidered with the Tech High crest)
Navy sweater vests
White undershirts (with no visible graphics; sleeves must not be longer than outer shirt)

Note: All tops must have the school crest sewn on the left pocket or left side.

Bottoms: (no cargo pants allowed

Khaki or Navy pants (belted at the waistline)
Khaki or Navy shorts (belted at the waistline)

Casual or Dress Shoes:

Solid Black, brown, white or navy blue shoes - no tennis shoes

Socks:

Navy, black, white, khaki (neutral)

Belt:

Black, Navy Blue or Brown woven through belt loops

Ties:

Blue, Gold or combination with oxford shirts

Headwear:

May be for religious customs only. A note is required.

Female Uniforms

Tops:

Closed-toe casual shoes, no tennis shoes

No furry boots or shoes
No Sandals

Socks:

Navy, black, white, khaki (neutral)

Belt:

Black, Navy Blue or Brown woven through belt loops

Ties:

Blue, Gold or combination with oxford shirts

May be for religious customs only. A note from parent/guardian is required.

Cold Weather Apparel

Jackets and sweaters may be worn in the building provided they are worn open in the front when in the building. Wearing the jacket / sweater unzipped or unbuttoned allows school staff to easily determine whether or not the uniform is worn correctly.
