Advisory Program

n an effort to reach ALL students in grades 6 through 12, the GaDOE strongly recommends a teacher-as-advisor (TAA) program beginning in the 6th grade as the delivery system for the career development initiative. Students need the opportunity to make connections between themselves, education, and the world of work. Educators need the opportunity to make connections with students in an effort to assist them in answering the following questions:
  • Who am I? Self Knowledge
  • Where am I going? Educational and career exploration and investigation
  • How am I going to get there? Planning/Management

For more information regarding Teachers-as Advisors (TAA) program, email Vivian Snyder at vsnyder@doe.k12.ga.us or call at 404-657-8331. You can also email Ms. Rios at brios@techhighschool.org.

New academic requirements are included in the new HOPE legislation.  These changes will impact students graduating on or after May 1, 2015. We have created a chart that outlines the new rigor requirements.  The chart is posted on the HOPE Program Changes page on GAcollege411 or http://www.gsfc.org/main/publishing/pdf/2011/hope_rigor_requirements.pdf. This chart is a PDF file that you can print and give to parents and/or students or save and attach to an email.
