Basketball

Tech High has sponsored boys and girls’ varsity basketball teams since 2005-2006. Our teams compete in the Georgia High School Association’s (GHSA’s) “A” classification, and play a schedule of 15-20 games each season. Students must maintain passing grades in all courses to be able to participate.

Cheerleading

More than just sideline support, Cheerleading at Tech High is a sisterhood.  Each year, between 10 and 18 young women commit themselves to team building, school spirit, and athleticism.  Daily practices (in-season) ensure we are well prepared to support the Girls and Boys Basketball Teams, as well as the RoboTitans.

Community Outreach

Tech High actively connects to the local community from a wide range of directions, including family engagement and outreach, community service agencies and service learning opportunities, field trips, job shadowing, and further partnerships in education.  Serving the community is a valuable educational, social and emotional experience.  Each student at Tech High is responsible for dedicating 80 hours of service to a community based organization prior to graduation.  Tech High’s wide range of community engagement is helping prepare today’s students to become tomorrow’s adults.

Debate Club

The Debate Club is where students who are interested in current events and community affairs can come together and discuss these situations. The members are divided into two teams to debate the topic. One team supports one view of the situation, while the other team supports the opposing view. Although only one member can speak at a time, the rules state that everybody on each team must contribute at least one comment to each debate.

Gaming Club

Gaming Club is a student-led group that meets weekly after school. Students compete in a variety of games on Xbox360, PS3, and Wii. Club dues are paid twice each month in an amount agreed upon by members. Dues are used to provide drinks and snacks for members. Club meetings last from 3:15 to 4:30 on alternating Tuesdays and Mondays.

High School Enterprise

The High School Enterprise Program is sponsored by the National Science Foundation through Michigan Tech. The Tech High HSE team is mentored by Tech High staff and faculty and students from Georgia Tech and Michigan Tech who are working cooperatively to give high school students a taste of the business organization process, design and engineering of a real world product. The Tech High project is the development of a wearable computer. The wearable computer will monitor physical parameters such as heart rate and detailed function, pulse and respiration rate, and possibly blood pressure, to give the wearer a set of collected data for analysis of his response during physical activity.

RoboTitans

The Tech High Robotitans compete at the top level of the FIRST Robotics Competition where they practice the principles of gracious professionalism and “cooperation.”, an environment of cooperation and competition working simultaneously.  The Robotitans are sponsored by the Georgia Tech RoboJackets and spend many hours working in the Student Competition Center at Georgia Tech under the guidance of Georgia Tech students, professors  and alumni.
